Steve Langelier, New Hampshire, USA, 1972 Midget

"Here are some pictures of my almost fully restored '72 round arched Midget with original wire wheels and autumn leaf interior! This one is the second one that I have had. Coming from a family where my older brothers drove British during the 60's in the form of MGA's, Bugeyes, and at least one TR3! I had to have my own when I got to college."

"Bought a 1971 from my older brother in 1974 with just 9,000 miles on the odometer for $1,000. Drove it through college and learned every nuance and piece of that car by necessity. Owned until I hit a curb (89,000 miles) in 1977. With bent front end, broken rear shocks and leaf springs, It was put back together (working on the floor of my Mom's garage during the winter in New England) and sold it for an old CJ-5 jeep...BLAH!"

"I got the fever again about seven years ago and put out the word to my brother in law who owned a junk yard that I wanted a chrome bumpered Midget. Well, On Easter seven years ago I found the 72 in Londonderry, NH with a bush growing through the floorboards and rear quarters rusted out. BUT! It had the original engine which was all there, an extra set of wire wheels, and a complete rug kit that was brand new in the trunk. I bought it for $300.00 and brought her home. Believe it or not, with some fresh petrol, a new starter and a good battery, she fired up after a few anxious minutes and I have been driving the 72 ever since! Well, after I fit her with new brake hydraulics anyway...I have done all the work myself except for the paint."

"She is not up to show standards but I always get more comments and lookers at the car shows and ralleys than the big old American hot rods. And with the tonneau cover (original 72), the Midget turns a lot of heads and gets lots of thumbs up from people when I am out cruising."
